How to use the calculator
- Type a sum
Tap the number and operator buttons, or type on your keyboard. The sum shows above the answer, and the answer updates as you go.
- Press "="
Press "=" (or Enter) to get your answer. Copy it with the "Copy" button, or tap any past sum in "History" to bring its answer back.
- Open More options if you need them
Underneath the keypad, "More options" has a percentage helper (like "what's 20% of 80") and a tip calculator that also splits a bill between people.
Questions
How does the percent key work?
It works the way a phone calculator does. 200 + 10% adds 10% of 200, giving 220. 50 × 10% just turns the 10% into 0.1, giving 5. On its own, a number followed by % simply divides it by 100.
How do I work out a percentage, like a discount or a tip?
Open "More options" underneath the keypad. The percentage helper works out things like "20% of 80" or "how much has this gone up by" without you needing to remember the maths, and the tip tab works out a tip and splits a bill between any number of people.
What's the difference between the C and AC buttons?
The clear button clears just the number you're currently typing if you've made a typo, so you can carry on with the rest of your sum. Once there's nothing left to clear, the same button clears everything and starts over — that's when it's labelled "AC".
Will my history and memory still be there next time?
Yes. Your calculation history, the memory value (M), and your settings are all kept on this device, so they're waiting for you next time you open the calculator. Use "Clear" in the History panel if you'd rather start fresh.
What do the memory buttons (MC, MR, M+, M−, MS) do?
MS saves the number on screen into memory. MR brings it back. M+ and M− add or subtract the number on screen from what's already in memory. MC clears memory. The little "M" circle lights up whenever memory holds a number.
Are there keyboard shortcuts?
Yes. Numbers, + - * /, ., %, ( ) and Enter (for =) all work as you'd expect. Backspace deletes the last character, Delete clears the current entry, and Esc clears everything.
What happens if I divide by 0?
You'll get a plain, friendly message like "Can't divide by 0" instead of a confusing error code, and you can carry on editing your sum straight away.
